Freeland Performing Arts hosted our second annual summer camp for incoming students in grades K-7. Campers attended sessions instructed by FPA high school students that were focused on acting, music, dance, tech, and more! During this week-long camp, campers and teachers had a great time learning new skills and putting together a show. At the end of camp, the campers performed Kid Flix - a show centered around attending the movies - that demonstrated the growth of the students! We are so excited to continue growing our program!

The 2023-2024 year was FPA's first experience with competition theater! This state-recognized organization gave high school students the opportunity to compete against other schools in a timed studio show. While FPA continued with the musical Matilda, most of the show was re-casted and re-blocked, providing new challenges for cast members. In our first year, we made it to district, regional, and state-level competition, placing 4th in the state and winning the coveted Black Gaffe Tech Award! Many students also won excellent and superior awards at these competitions. This experience allowed FPA to explore the competition world while honing our skills and building our program!

Theater II Class
Too Much Light Makes The Baby Go Blind
An neo-futurist series of plays conceived by Greg Allen, this show challenges the cast to present 30 plays in 60 minutes. This interactive production heavily involves the audience and presents each play in a random order. All of the plays vary in their moods, actions, and overall structure, and this provides a challenge to the cast as they must perform any play at any time. Our Theater II Class worked hard to perform this thought-provoking production for our community!
